The red car shopping cart

fall_bigcart.jpg

We were upstate visiting some family when we stopped into Wegmans (mmm...Wegmans, wish we had one of those over here in NYC) and saw these fantastic shopping carts. My toddler is usually fine sitting in a regular shopping cart, but it's like we're on a timer - after awhile she gets really antsy which means we have to finish in a hurry. Well, we were shopping for over an hour (Wegmans is a huge store) and when we were done, she refused to get out! She was having so much fun "driving" the cart. Ok, I know that supermarkets here aren't big enough for one of these, and maybe this is the norm in the burbs, but I thought the cart was pretty damn cool.

Yep, par for the course here in CO. Home Depot also has some awesome racecar carts.

This is interesting...I think kids will forget the usual crying and enjoy shopping with their moms!!

My daughter used to love this type of cart at the market, but the problem is they have like 2 of them in the whole store, so it's almost impossible to actually get one. Luckily she doesn't throw a fit when she can't get one (and, I believe, she's forgotten about their existence altogether).

My problem with this cart was that my toddler wanted me to keep it moving, not allowing me to stop to pick up the groceries from the shelves. ha ha!

As a shopper (only a parent-to-be, sorry)... I hate these beasts, mostly because of the inattentive parents navigating their children in them. (And yes, they're at all the grocery stores in the suburbs and near-burbs). Parents/Caretakers/Etc fail to realize that this cart is significantly larger, thus resulting in bruised ankles and calves on other patrons. The genius who created these saw fit to add squeeky horns... which children love to hit. Not a fun thing to have to listen to when you've just gotten off work, the lines are outrageous and you're just over the express lane limit.
Oh, and finally, they can't/won't effectively monitor what their children are doing while in these things. Just last night, the sweetest looking little girl was knocking things off the shelves into her lap and on the floor...Mom could care less... and didn't pick a single thing up.
