BebeSounds Portable Mini fridge

I think this product is GENUIS! Can you imagine just rolling over in bed, reaching over and grabbing a bottle out of the mini fridge for late night feedings? Or maybe you're pumping in the office - you can store your supply in your own personal fridge (instead of the communal office fridge) and then carry the whole thing with you when you're ready to go, fresh and cold. The cool thing about the BebeSounds Portable Mini fridge is that at the flip of a switch, it can go from keeping your food and beverages cold, to keeping them hot. Great for car trips and no need for melting ice packs. I need one!

On sale for $59.95 at Babies 1st.

I had a mini fridge for my office (different brand, it only cooled). It was cool, until I started using it.

A couple thoughts.

1) What is the cooling mechanism? My fridge was "solid state," which meant it was ALWAYS on. ALWAYS noisy. It didn't cycle on and off like a regular refrigerator.

2) How long does it take to cool the interior? Mine took several hours to cool a can of soda. Open the fridge and the interior temperature dropped to room temperature. Too slow!

For me, for any type of car travel, it still makes sense to toss a couple of rectangular plastic ice packs into a foldable travel cooler. They last 12+ hours, don't make a watery mess like ice cubes in a Ziploc bag, and anything lying on an ice pack gets cool fast.

Okay - since I discovered this website, I have been buying baby things left and right - including the item above.

So far it seems okay. It's not terribly noisy - I'd say it sounds a lot like an average computer tower. When I held my hand inside, it wasn't that cold but the walls of the fridge did feel like an icepack. I'm a little worried that it won't keep my breast milk cool enough.

I want to get a thermometer and put it to the test. More as the story develops...
