Vintage Wooden ABC Nursery Blocks

best.jpg

Blocks are blocks right? Last I looked they were still square, embellished with letters and could stack like no tomorrow. Then I came across these beautifully made hardwood nursery blocks. I immediately became nostalgic for the set I had as a child (which unfortunately did not get stashed away in grandma's attic). These classic, turn of the century blocks are embossed with detailed letters, numbers and pictures. I only needed to see the box they came in to know that these wooden blocks would make a wonderful, heirloom quality gift. The set comes with 36 1 3/4 " square blocks in a vintage inspired storage box.

See them at Baby Oliver.

My toddler absolutely loves letters. Her daddy and I have a growing collection of letter toys that we use to play with her. This set looks like it would be a great addition to our collection. Another type of blocks that I found is Story Blox (http://storyblox.com/) which are available in themed sets with nursery rhymes, story fragments, and children's songs. They're handcrafted and the phrases on the sides of the blocks really increase their useful lives. I originally found them on Etsy.com (a great site to find all kinds of great handcrafted baby things...)
