Wedgits

Deluxe_set_image_lrg.jpg

There's a "mystery box" at the beginning of every class that my toddler goes to on Fridays. It always contains a different cool building toy every week and one week it was filled with Wedgits. I hadn't seen them before and I had as much fun building with them as the kids. They seem deceptively simple at first, though the shapes - rhombus and octahedron - are fairly complex. But as you start nestiing the pieces and stacking towers, pyramids and other shapes, the possibilities of more complex building structures become apparent. I found them to be more satisfying than Legos and Megablocks, which we still love, but Wedgits offer a bit more flexibiltiy and creativity in the way you can nest and interlock the pieces.

FInd out more about Wedgits on their site (though it doesn't do the toy much justice).

My niece received these last christmas... I spent more time playing with them than she did... Got to the point where I would say "What do you want to build next?". she would point at a picture, and I would say "Okie, lets work on it!" and she would say "Nope, you build it!!" hehehe
