Masai Barefoot Technology Shoes

masai_shoes.jpg

Tone your muscles and burn fat just by walking in these shoes? Ok, putting looks aside for a moment, the Masai shoe simulates walking on sand or similar uneven surfaces with its multi-layer sole. This challenges the muscles, strengthening them along the legs, butt, stomach and back which leads to improved posture. It also increases circulation and relieves joint and back problems. If you ever jogged or even walked any distance on sand you know how hard that is.

So you're not going to win any fashion points with these shoes, though to their credit, they've expanded their line of footware to include sandals and sneakers that don't look as orthopedic as their original shoe (the sneakers are really not bad). But this could be great for the post-partum mom (or any mom, really) who wants to tone up while pushing a stroller. I mean if you're gonna take the baby for a walk, why not make it a real workout and make it count, right?

Read more about it on the Masai website.

Does anyone know if MBT Masai Barefoot Technology shoes might be helpful for a teen girl with probable mild/early chondromalacia patella? It seems to make some sense, but I haven't been able to find any answers. I mainly want to know if there is any potential for making it worse.
