Twist crayons

I think we may need these plastic-encased twist crayons at our house. Why? Because the toddler has gotten into the habit of peeling the wrappers off of every one of her crayons instead of using them to draw. Now granted, this activity seems to occupy her for long periods of time and I've never seen her in deeper concentration (and it's about the only time she'll keep quiet from endless toddler chatter for more than a few minutes). So what's the big deal? When she actually decides to color with them, she'll slyly use her her fingernail to scrape bits of crayon off to eat while drawing (as if I wouldn't notice). Plus in the grips of sweaty toddler hands the colors seem to bleed everywhere.

crayola has been making those for years, and the crayola ones may be cheaper than the moma ones

Unfortunately, these crayons are so thin that they break easily. There is no mechanism to stop the crayon at the proper length.
It's akin to using a mechanical pencil : thin lead + too many clicks = broken lead all over your paper.
If your baby enjoys sneaking a crayon snack, then these will just make it easier to twist up a tasty tidbit. =-)

Thanks for all the tips. Maybe these aren't the answer if there's no mechanism to stop the crayon from coming out. Like the poster above, I'm also a sucker for packaging!
