Pottery Barn Kids Color Wheel

Pottery Barn Kids has introduced a new line of toys called Learning Toys that are categorized by age and incorporate everything from creative block building to basic math principles.
The toy that really caught my eye was this amazing Color Wheel, a 24 piece wood puzzle that teaches kids about the way various colors combine to create other colors. I studied color theory for a year in art school so this really appeals to my art geek sensibilities and it seems like a really nice way to introduce fundamental color theory when the toddler gets old enough to grasp that concept. Hey, some adults may learn something new from the Color Wheel as well.

Some other interesting toys include the Addition and Subtraction Puzzle for older kids (again, I just really love the aesthetics of it - like a box of beautiful chalk pastels), not to mention these fantastic "how to play" illustrations that accompany each toy on the website.

Check out all the new toys at Pottery Barn Kids.

these remind me of the stuff I've seen in my daughter's montessori classrooms

I am an art teacher who is always looking for great tools to teach within my elementary classroom. I came across this Pottery Barn Color Wheel toy and thought, "Wow, now that's what I call making a good idea better." The concept of a color wheel we should all be familiar already with, but the interactive puzzle play is the key in creating the atmosphere where children have fun learning.
