Food Smocks by Petite Violette

For some reason it's not as easy finding bibs that have a bit more coverage for your messy eater - think spaghetti or chocolate cake - at least in our house where sauce and icing end up being used as hand and face lotion. Brooklyn mom Corey Robbins designs these great full coverage smocks from poly-coated cotton in a variety of terrific prints to help maintain the mess. They come in 3 sizes - 12 months, 2T and 3T and velcros shut in the back (which reminds me, when do you stop putting bibs on toddlers anyway? I have visions of my future 5 year old still wearing a bib at mealtimes.)
But what I'm really looking forward to using these smocks for is painting. The toddler loves to paint, but it's a lot messier than some of her eating habits. In class, where they use standard smocks that just cover the torso, she often ends up covered in paint because apparently, paint feels just like lotion too, like tomato sauce and chocolate icing. I have to roll up her sleeves and pants as far as they'll go, because the feet get the lotion massage treatment as well. Sometimes I feel like a lazy mom at home because I don't whip out the paints too often because I don't want to deal with the mess, but this smock will make cleaning her up a breeze...and since cold weather is around the corner, I see more messy arts and crafts sessions in our future.

You know what's easier than any bib out there? Whipping off the kids' shirts and letting them paint, eat, etc. topless. Skin is always washable and then you have one less thing to throw in the wash machine.

True, but not in the wintertime, especially in our NYC apartment.

I love these smocks! I'm a mom and kindergarten teacher and find there is nothing else out there as nice and as functional as them!

Thanks again for sharing this vendor. Corey was so kind in working with me to place an order. I even received my smock in two days! I love it, it is adorable, worth every penny!
