Ikea textiles

OK, I’m waiting for the rotten eggs and vegetables to be thrown at me for even mentioning the word IKEA, but I’m hoping I get credit for combining affordability AND design. If you haven’t already, you really should check out IKEA's children’s textiles. They’re not all great, but I really like the TASSA IGELKOTT quilt and pillow case above (just $10!!! ) and the MINNEN MOROT swaddling blankets below ($4 for 2!!!!).

Yes, especially the swaddlers, which a very design-conscious friend gave to me at the birth of my son, and which I now give to all who are expecting. Let’s face it, unless you invest a fortune in tiny, absorbant blankets or do laundry every five minutes, you simply can’t keep up with a peeing and pooing newborn. That diaper just doesn't hold it in! So what do you do? You use those hideous swaddling blankets you got from the hospital. Don’t you? Well now you can exorcise those teal green and raspberry stripes in favor of cute bunnies and carrots. They’re just as soft and almost as affordable as the free ones from the hospital.
And as for the quilt – it’s more like a sheet and is admittedly not as soft as say, organic fiber, but who doesn’t love hedgehogs?

What's wrong with IKEA? :(

Nothing! That's why I posted about it. I actually think it has some great stuff and certainly has the added benefit of being more accessible for most people than many other design stores.
