The motherbike

It seems to me that the Dutch are waaaaay ahead of us when it comes to bicycles with baby-carry options. Then again, they also have some of the safest and most extensive cycle path networks in the world, so I suppose that isn't surprising.

Here in England, it's rare to see anything other than your bog-standard plastic seat on the back, or perhaps an intrepid soul with a trailer, but as you can see on Motherbikes (Moederfiets), those lucky Dutch have a wealth of designs to choose from. And they don't just stop at transporting one kid, oh no: some of these bikes can carry up to five!

I bet the kids love piling into the wagons while mum or dad does the hard work. Which reminds me of another big difference between Holland and England: Holland is mostly flat.

The site's in Dutch, but you could do what I did and put the URL into Babelfish.
