Kapsule chairs

kapsule chairs

Something about the Kapsule chair from Karim Rashid appealed to me, and not just to my rational, design-loving instinct. No, this was deeper, more primal. And then it hit me: they look just like giant jellybeans. No wonder I was salivating at the very sight of them.

Kids'll love them too, and perhaps for better reasons than my snack-addled self. The shape, for one thing: that little indentation is just crying out for a toddler-sized bottom to nestle right into it. And then there's the added fun that objects can be posted through a hole in the back - the chair divides into two, so they can be retrieved again quite easily. I think I'd be pushing stuff through just to see what it looked like through the deep colours.

Rashid is a New York-based designer; his site promises details of stockists in France soon. You'll also find it on Offi.com, available from March 2007. Is it just me, or is $49.00 a steal?
