Orbit toddler

orbit_toddler.jpg

When the Orbit Infant System first came out last year, I thought it was just about the best looking stroller out there, with some pretty cool features (just watch the slick demo). The SmartHub dock allows you to position the carseat in any direction, even sideways, and the carseat itself is just damn attractive (you know, in the sea of Gracos). But with an average retail price of $900, it's no wonder I haven't seen a single Orbit stroller on the streets (have you?), especially since it seemed you were out of luck once your baby grew out of the car seat, which would make the life expectancy of the stroller an average of 5-6 months.

So you knew it was just a matter of time before they came out with a toddler seat attachment. The seat retains much of the same features as the infant seat, such as the 360 degree rotation and extendable sunshade, but somehow looks a little less cool and more like your typical looking stroller. It's available sometime next month, but no word on price yet. Up for next year are a few more attachments that you can use with the system, including a bassinet, rocker and a toddler car seat. So stay tuned...maybe with all the additional products extending the lifespan of the base we'll actually start seeing some of these strollers out on the streets.
