Pigeon lamp - prolific bird fetches rare price

When I was little and growing up in the country, my best friend had a great, life-size, plastic, goose lamp in her room. It gave off such a soft, warm glow. I just loved going to sleep by it.

Perhaps this explains why I was drawn to Ed Carpenter's pigeon light. Call it the urban version of the goose light, which I guess is appropriate, since I live in NYC now. But like everything else that’s cool in the city, at $105 the lamp is what I would call ridiculously expensive. I like it, and it comes in orange, but geeesh!

For myself, I just googled the goose lamp and found it! I admit it’s totally tacky, but in a hip, retro sort-of-way. And for half the price, I get twice the bird, and fond memories to boot.
