Baby Rock Records: classic and new songs for your kids

coldplay cover.gif

I recently put a nice little shelf stereo in the kids' room and they enjoy a few soft songs before they go to sleep at night. They also have a rather large room, so during my day I'm usually in there for a little while to play if it's cold outside. You put in a CD, get some Hungry Hungry Hippos going and you're having a good time. Of course, most of the music that's aimed for kids is a little painful to my adult ears, and it's hard to pick and choose music that I enjoy that is safe for them.

Which is why I've been hyped about Baby Rock Records. They take contemporary songs and make them kiddified, and before you gag on that idea, take a listen to the sample on the Radiohead and Coldplay discs. It's actually good! The Radiohead music is calming and nice, but it retains the sounds that make the original songs so great. I was actually grooving to it a few days ago, it's good writing music. This is an example of something that may sound like a terrible idea, but actually ended up being pretty enjoyable.
