Fire engine bed may inspire tomorrow's heroes, but not future designers

G4892.jpg

I'm not usually a fan of "theme" furniture for children, preferring more classic lines and clean finishes. But my son LOVES fire trucks, so this novelty bed caught my eye. As pictured, with those turquoise blue sheets and relentless fire engine imagery all around, it's pretty tacky. But I'm trying to imagine it against a more neutral backdrop and with soft ecru bedding. Still might be pretty bad, but I know my son would love it. And hey, if it buys me a few more minutes of sleep in the morning while he plays fireman, I might just learn to live with it. Naa, I'm still getting a BUMP bed.

Hey we have that bed for our son! He didn't love firetrucks or anything and we didn't even buy it, my mother in law got it from a sears outlet store for over %50 off. Either way he loves it and we have normal sheets on it and none of the decals and it doesn't look so tacky. Our son took to it right away and loves to sit in it or laydown to play. That bump bed looks pretty bland though, dunno if we'd get him into it. :)

Thanks for the comment. Always good to have real testimony on something we post. Glad to know it can be down played into a more subtle design scheme and that it can be had at a discount. Along the lines of testimony though, my friend's child loves her BUMP bed, but maybe that's the difference between boys and girls. :)
