tato beans with molo stones - fantasy soup or a dream room?

For some reason, I have a real thing for amorphous furniture. I have always had a fantasy about decorating a kid’s play room with nothing but bulbous blobs. I imagine my kids lounging on and diving amongst amoebas of various shapes and sizes, like an updated, more stylish ball pool. And I imagine myself joining in. So I was naturally drawn to two items that I recently discovered at Unica Home. Neither is designed for children, in particular. But it seems to me that both kids and adults would enjoy them.

First is the Tato' family, designed by Enrico Paleri and Denis Santachiara for Baleri Italia. Available in myriad, multi-sized balls, beans and ovals that sport adorable names like "tato bean" and "bonbon," Tatos can be used as stools, foot-rests, or whatever you can dream up. Each peice is made of polyamide or stretch wool fabric, and the covers, which come in a variety of colors, can be removed for cleaning.

Once you've furnished your fantasy room with a few of these, you can accessorize with some felt rocks by Molo. Made of solid, 100% pure wool felt, every 4x6ish inch stone is completely unique. Each hand selected set of 5, including 2 natural and 3 grey, or 2 moss green and 3 grey, comes in a natural grey wool felt bag.

Keep in mind that both these are real design items, so they are not cheap. But as I said, I'm dreaming big here. Perhaps, I could justify the expense by calling my fantasy room one big contemporary installation. If my kids get in and start throwing things around, then I could even call it kinetic art.

I have just been reading that kids can be overwhelmed by toys that offer too much stimulation. The best toys are ones without an obvious use, as they encourage imagination. These'd all be perfect for that, wouldn't they?
