Habitat celebrity designers
I wish someone would ask me to design some fun, whimsical children's furniture. But until Writer for Babygadget holds as much cachet as Film Star or Model, I guess it ain't gonna happen.
Meanwhile, check out Habitat's new 'VIP' range for children. For some time now they've been inviting prestigious folk to have a bash at this designing lark, with mixed results. Now the same principle has been applied to their children's line.
You can find Buzz Aldrin's moon lampshade [above], a series of boxes [below] by 'design guru' Marcel Wanders, who says that 'containers giving birth to containers' reminds him of motherhood, and a bed designed to feel like you're sleeping on a boat by Loick Peyron, yacht racer [also below].
The line is led by Paco Rabanne's dolls, blank for you to colour in yourself - throw them in the washing machine and you can begin again. There are also names, like Jacqueline Wilson and Daniel Radcliffe, that may have your child begging you to buy the goods no matter what they are, such is their following.
The full list of products and designers is:
Buzz Aldrin - moon lampshade
Christian Lacroix - fashion monsters
Sophie Dahl - dressing table
Paco Rabanne - blank dolls
Jacqueline Wilson - dolls' house shelving
Marcel Wanders - Matryoshka boxes
Loick Peyron - Yacht bed
Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) - Cu-bed
Kate Winslet - secret box
Certainly worth a browse, for novelty value at least.
