You can either take the attitude that kids should be taught not to fight, or you can shrug that kids will be kids, and you might as well protect them from injury when they engage in the inevitable tussles. Personally? I'm a lover, not a fighter. On the other hand, the Bong-Bong Boxer from Park Sang Hyun and Kim Ji Ae makes children look so amusingly like cartoon characters, it might just be worth taking the opposite stance.
Recipients of the RedDot award, the designers state, perhaps controversially:
The Bong-Bong Boxer makes fighting fun and educational for pre-school children. There is a saying that goes, “children grow up by fighting”. The preschool stage is the time to broaden children’s cognitive boundaries. It is the time when they usually undergo trouble with other people for the first time in their lives. At this stage, fighting each other is natural. It is a way to learn how to solve problems with others. Bong-Bong Boxer is designed to help solve problems. It is a toy to improve friendship by “quasi-fighting” as a kind of sport.
