Kiddyloo

So, I'm hoping potty training is one of those things that 'just happens'. Mind you, I spent my pregnancy hoping that was true of childbirth as well, and that did me no good at all. And judging by the amount of potty-training equipment, books and theories out there, I'm beginning to think it isn't going to be that simple a process.

The Kiddyloo (page is in German) is a case in point. Bridging the gap - there's a gap? Damn! - between mastering the potty and mastering your actual full-sized loo, it's a kind of hybrid toddler step and toddler toilet seat.

The nifty thing about this product is that it splits into component parts, so you can take the top part with you on journeys, plus the whole thing folds away when you have the kind of guests who deserve better than sitting on your toddler's loo seat.

The given age range is 18 months to 4 years, so if the worst comes to the absolute worst, at least I know I have plenty of time.

There is no doubt, potty training is much more complicated than you think! I remember those naive days of my son's first year - thinking "well, he squats when he poops, I bet training will be a breeze!" Needless to say it wasn't. I tried on my own for a while but after a few months I used this book recommended by my local mom's group.

It was such a help. Once we started training he was done in less than a week!! I am so glad it was recommended to me. You can buy the bok at www.easypottytraining.com - you even get unlimited support, which for me was super helpful.

Anway, just thought I'd share.
Good luck to you!

If it helps, it just happened for my oldest. picked her up from a new daycare after 3 days at 3 and a half and they told me to stop sending pullups, because she'd been dry for 3 days. (I hadn't been able to get her to try and wasn't going to push it). It probably helped that all the other kids in her room were potty trained.

Thanks, Shannon. I have an inkling we'll be resorting to a book as well! But I'm waiting until summer time.
