Giraffe Baby Teether

giraffeteether.jpg

$20 bucks is steep for a teething toy, but my friends swear by this rubber giraffe as the best teething toy they've come across. It's bigger than it looks at a little over 6 inches high and it has just the right shape and size chewy bits to nosh on. The baby is teething right now (and can you believe her first tooth is a molar that's coming in the back?) but she gets super frustrated with her toys. They never seem to be the right shape to chew on comfortably and most round shaped teething toys are too wide, so I might just have to pick up this Giraffe. Besides, how many other teethers can claim that they're handmade in the French Alps?

Available at Land of Nod.

Ha ha, what a surprise! We have that exact same giraffe, given to us by a friend whose parents live near Barcelona. I can confirm it's both good-looking and rather squeaky (toys seem to be nicely designed over there, even ones you pick up in the supermarket). I'm sure it only cost a few Euros there, though, nothing like $20!

To me, this teether is worth the $20. Not only is it good looking, it was a critical aid during teething meltdowns time and again. It is very chewy and lots of long parts that fit into tough areas...like when those last little eye teeth are poking through. And it is so nice looking in the nursery!

"Sophie la Girafe" as we know her is indeed just a few Euros at the local supermarche in Paris. She has given my daughter, auspiciously named Sophie, hours of gnawing time.

J'adore offire Sophie aux nouveaux nés que je connais.

--how many other teethers can claim that they're handmade in the French Alps ?--

Sophie (it's her name) is made in China like all other toys. It's an obligation for french law to write on the box where toys are made and nowadays, Sophie is made in China (like other Toys).

If you want to know who has used that teether... ?
I do, as my father and my mother (and my and their brotherhood).
So Where do I came from ???

$20! - Have a friend in Europe pick one up for you! This is definitely the most popular baby toy in France and you can find it everywhere! We love our Sophie Giraffe.

ooh, someone please send me one from europe! Though I suspect with shipping costs, it will come out to be around the same.

Sophie is so cute, but I have to say that my son doesn't chew on it! He likes to play with and try to make it squeak, but I think the taste is a bit weird. But, I received it as a gift and thought it was adorable!
