Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all moms out there. Hope you wake up to many little kisses and hugs.

Ironically, chef dad's busiest weekend of the year is Mother's Day (he's worked something ridiculous like 30 hours in a 48 hour period...insane I say! insane!). So while he's working hard to help a few hundred other mothers celebrate the day, we're on our own this weekend, me and the 2 kids. So I'm sitting here this morning with my much needed cup of coffee, the baby napping and the 3 year old chattering around me. She actually gave me a small gift in that she slept till 7 (though I was up at 6 with the baby anyway), and she toddled out of the room holding a bright yellow card she had made the night before. Green and red scribbles, a very impressive attempt at drawing a flower, and her name written all around.

She probably doesn't really knows what Mother's Day means, but that's ok. I look forward to the day the 2 girls are old enough to let me sleep in, and yeah...cliche as it is, I would be amused and delighted if they attempted to bring me breakfast in bed one day...but in the meantime, I hear the baby up from her nap, it's time to fix the toddler some breakfast...and so the day goes.
