John W. Golden, Art for Real Men (and women, and kids) Everyone

Though art for children has become so much more sophisticated, most of it is still not something your average husband might care about. They’re still just too cute. (Which is fine, because they are for kids after all.) But if you’d like your husband to get psyched over nursery décor, what better way than to indulge his sense of humor with the witty designs of John W. Golden.
Look vaguely familiar? That’s because the work of this accomplished illustrator/animator has been featured on Cartoon Network, Animal Planet, Nickelodeon, CBS, TNT, PBS, and more. Yes, some of his characters (like the hedgehog above) are cute, but with their slightly mischievous expressions, these classic cartoons have a real old school appeal. I love the idea of hanging several of John’s comical signs around the nursery. They’d be especially great for a playroom. John’s colorful robots, rockets, and sneaks would be great alternative to planes and trains. Some would even work in an adult space, as would all of John’s awesome photographs. Hey, why am I talking about men? Clearly, John’s wit appeals to women too!
