Little lavendar sheep may help babies sleep

lavendar sachets.jpg

They say lavender helps babies sleep. I have no idea if this is true, but I do know that desperate parents will try anything. My son has a lavender filled doggy in his crib, and I can say that at the very least I love the way his hair smells in the morning. So if you're desperate or merely enjoy a little aromatherapy, here are some very dear sachets from Katherine Dunn's Etsy shop. I love the vintage appeal of the crudely stitched mill cloth bags as well as the adorable boy and girl lamb images. As long as you know what your friend/relative is having, these would make lovely shower gifts. (Katherine, you might also consider a gender neutral version.)

I know it smells nice, but I would be cautious of using lavender products around children. Lavender oil recently was linked to prepubertal gynecomastia. I don't know what effect it might have on babies.

Thanks for the info, June. Perhaps any lavendar is best kept in the clothes drawer.
