Revisit the Seventies with Clarks Dazzler shoes
Here at Babygadget, we like to highlight independent designers and outlets, but just for once a piece of high street design caught my eye and I thought I'd share it. The Dazzler shoes you see above are from Clarks, the shop every British child knows as a source of good, sensible footwear. They've built their reputation on correct fittings and styles that fit school uniform regulations; even their adult designs err on the side of common sense.
Which is why this shoe comes as a breath of fresh air. As soon as I saw it, I thought of my own Seventies childhood, of disco-dancing, flared trousers, the Kids from Fame, early Peanuts...am I reading too much into a pair of shoes? Anyone else of my age care to comment?
Whatever the case, it's just possible Clarks have looked at their demographics and sussed out that Seventies kids are now parents with buying power. Nostalgia could be a very lucrative seam for them to tap.
