To me, the bed looks like scaled-down adult furniture, and, as such, it's unlike anything else I've seen on the market. Perhaps it's for parents who don't want to compromise on the grown-up look of their home with cutesy, childish design. To the designer's credit, it achieves all this and still seems eminently practical for kids, with its low base and integral padding.
