Daskaninchen Bunnies

Leave it to a Mom to distill hi-concept art and complex mathematical theory into the form of a rabbit. I love it. The Beuys Bunny is artist and mother to two Shannah Burton's interpretation of German artist Joseph Beuys' "hyperintellectual" performance piece "How To Explain Pictures To A Dead Hare." She states: "This is my attempt to share... [and] communicate this art and vision to others by means of crafting. Nothing would please me more than to see a baby chew on a beuys bunny ear while perhaps whispering baby secrets on how to explain art." At first I was simply drawn to the form and features of these fluff-tailed creatures. But I also really appreciate the message behind Shannah's totems. I love sharing art with children, but sometimes we adults can be rather highfalutin', taking ourselves waaaayy too seriously. There's nothing like kids to bring us back down to Earth and teach us the true art of living.

Each felt bunny is hand-stitched and stuffed with eco-friendly fiber fill. Check out her fabulous Fibonacci Rabbit as well.
