Bright paper bunting

It seems there is a real fashion at the moment for fabric party bunting, and very nice it is, too. On the other hand, if you're the sort of person who might efficiently tidy the bunting away at the end of the party, and then look for it in vain next year - or, indeed, forget you ever had it - then paper bunting is your friend. And with designs as nice as this one from The Pod Company at a mere £3.50, it's just as economical a way to go. At the end of the party, it can simply be added to the rest of the recycling, and that's that.

Bunting is a string of flags that is traditionally used to decorate parties and fetes. is there a different word for it in the US? I'm from the UK - Myf.

Bunting: (via Wikipedia )An infant sleeping bag or a bag-like garment or covering worn by infants for sleeping.
On the other hand, I have been thinking about it for a couple of days, and cannot come up with what it is that we Americans call that. I don't think we have a specific word for it, it just falls under the general category of "party decorations"

No wait! it has finally come to me, they are called pennants! or a string of pennant flags.
Honestly, I don't think I have ever even seen them used as party decorations in someone's home. They are commonly used as outside decoration for used car lots.

Ha ha, that's classic. Talk about two nations divided by a common language (and by differing party decoration traditions!).
They have always been common over here for fetes and other public celebrations, but recently they have really caught on for birthday parties, too. It's fascinating for me to learn that hasn't happened in the US, especially in these days of globalism.
