Lalapanzi: a portable place to sleep

The Lalapanzi bed, founded by 2 South African mothers, was designed with closeness in mind - in this case, better sleeping solutions for a family who often travels. The soft, plush bed is only 5 pounds and comes in many durable and cozy fabrics. It's similar in concept to a moses basket, but can be folded into a travel sac for easier portability and your baby will have a familiar place to sleep when away from home. It seems that many people are placing it inside their cribs for a much more cozy fit, which makes sense - a crib is huge when you place a newborn inside! It's also a nice way to transition the baby to a crib if he's sleeping with you in your room. The bed comes in 2 sizes: small for babies up to 6 months, and large for babies up to a year. Unless you were placing the large bed in a crib, I can't see how an active, wiggly older infant would stay in the bed during the night, do you? Can anyone out there using this bed tell me differently?
Thanks to Babygadget reader Christine for the tip.

I used this bed for three babies, including twins, with great success. Although it wll not contain babies once they start crawling, I found however that because it is such a comfortable and familiar place to sleep, they stayed in it willingly. Overall I rate this product a must have......

We could not have done all the travel and weekends away without this bed (the larger bed is the one we have). We used it very successfully on a 2 week sailboat vacation when our daughter was 9 months old and crawling, as well as many weekends of RV trips, sailing trips and in hotels. I loved not be confined to our hotel room on vacation, as she could take naps anywhere in the lalapanzi. Also when visiting friends in the evening, when you know you may end up staying past her bedtime. From about 10 months old my daughter would even sometimes get into it herself when she wanted to nap or go to bed. (She still wanted her blanket tucked in though).
She did crawl out and came to our bed when she woke up at night (instead of crying to get her out of her crib), but no more frequently than she did in her crib and the process of getting her back in bed was the same as with the crib. It was her little familiar place away from home and she was very content to be in it. Definitely a must have.

We used a round dog bed. The kids loved it.
