Realtoys make new animals out of old fabrics

Lisa Miatke emailed me about her handmade plush toys made from recycled fabrics, and something about this Neapolitan Pony struck a chord. It reminded me of an old patchwork stuffed horse that my friend Fiona gave me to give the girls as she was packing to move west. It was hers from childhood and she was ready to let it go. Something about passing that old horse on to my kids really warmed my heart, particularly since I wasn't sure when I'd see my friend again. This pony has a bit of that quality since it's made from a t-shirt that belonged to Lisa's friend; something new made from something old.

Check out the other animals in Lisa's collection. The dotted giraffe is particularly charming.
