Lost and Found

There are many great children's books out there, but it's sometimes hard to weed through them all to find the gems. Therefore I thought I'd share a new favorite in our collection, Lost and Found, by Oliver Jeffers. In this endearing tale, a boy finds a penguin at his door, which he figures must be lost. Therefore he embarks on a big adventure to return the penguin to the South Pole, only to make a new best friend along the way. The story is clever, but what really won me over were the illustrations. With a deft use of bright colors and minimal lines, Jeffers perfectly captures the essence of boy and penguin. The results are both humorous and graphically stunning. Wonderful reading for both kids and parents alike.

He has another book, How to Catch a Star, that's just lovely too.
