November Moon

I'm quite taken with the quirky creations at November Moon. Mix media artist and self-described "playful visual poet" Cathy Cullis delights in making characters that represent "nostalgic Englishness and eccentric delight in things handmade, domestic..." I'll say. Using rustic linens, vintage cottons and unexpected embellishments (like knitted noses and freehand embroidery), Cathy creates each doll or toy by hand. The results are both a little odd and totally charming. I find they have an almost archetypal appeal...as if to remind us of the time when life was simple and imagination was king.

Be sure to check out Cathy's extensive November Moon blog for more news and works of art.
