AniMates - Eco and Econ-friendly

im58211.jpg

Do you ever get the feeling that you're toy shopping is sometimes more for yourself than your kids? When I was little, I loved animal figures. Turns out I still do, and thus my son has quite a menagerie, whether he likes it or not. (To be fair he does, and also has quite the vehicle collection as well - which I cannot claim interests me in the slightest). Of course, I prefer expensive wooden animals, hand carved in Germany, so I really have to restrain myself. But now, with the recent discovery of AniMates from ImagiPLAY, I can indulge away. Because for less than $6 one gets 2 of these lovely animals, male and female “mates.” Made in Sri-Lanka under fair trade practices, each graceful critter is simply carved from preservative-free rubberwood, and left natural or painted with non-toxic water-based paint. They also make complete animal sets!

I totally agree with you, it's all about the toys that you loved as a kid yourself. I think as parents we have to choose the toys for our kids, we know what is best for them, we can't just let them choose. Otherwise it would be candy, TV and plastic toys all day :-)

That's also the reason why I started to build blocks myself, I just needed to make sure they are safe and fun to play with, and benefit the local economy.

Cheers, Hans
