An ingenious alphabet

Take a careful look at the images framed in the picture above. What do you suppose they signify? Clearly, you could have these pictures on your wall for years without anyone thinking to ask you whether they have any meaning beyond their face value - but the cleverest among your friends may eventually twig that the initial letter from each image spells out a name. Perhaps more obvious, and certainly more fun, is the A-Z poster which works on similar grounds, showing pictures from Arch to Zebra Crossing. I'd have shown that image here too, but their picture link seems to have broken.
