Magic vegetables
I'm a sucker for food with faces and yeah, the price is steep for just 4 pieces of cut-able food, but this is imported from Japan, after all, and Japanese cuisine is often about elegant minimalism, right? Over the weekend my dad, the girls and I went into a Korean book store in Flushing to pick out some belated birthday gifts for the Kid, and I was shocked at the import prices of books, toys and DVDs. I'm not saying that this food set is worth $29.99, but I can't resist that little mushroom!

My daughter got a set of wooden vegetables just like that a year ago (without the cute faces, unfortunately), and it has become one of her favourite toys. The wooden knifes used to be the one item she and her friends would be fighting about.
It's a lot of money, but I say it's worth it!
