The Safe Sippy
Sippy cups seem like products that should be easy to shop for. In my experience however, they tend to be poorly made, break after only a week or two of heavy use, and it seems impossible to keep them clean for any amount of time. That's why The Safe Sippy caught my eye.
These cups are stainless steel and the plastics involved are certified free of Bisphenol A, phthalates and DEHA. More importantly, the cups look inviting and easy to hold, meaning that you won't be giving up function for safety.

Heads up about the safe sippy cup - I bought it because (a) it seemed like a safe alternative to the usual plastic sippies, and (b) it was pretty cute, and as the post says, seemed like the handles were well designed. Alas, looks can be deceiving. The thing leaks like mad, and is totally useless as a result. For such a pricey product (as far as sippy cups go), they've at least got to get the basics right.

We bought these... they are cute but they leak like crazy (from just normal drinking) so we now never use them - bummer.

I've never posted a comment before but felt so strongly about this because of the future heath of our children-I had to.
My nephew will only use a Safe Sippy now-he has banned all others from the shelf I keep for him at my house and his own.
All of my Mommy friends have converted as well-and trust me these cups have raised such a stir in my community because of the Eco/Toxicity issue I don't believe any one I know-who I consider a friend would let their child use any other cup but the Safe Sippy.
I've been such an advocate I've sent them around the country to all my Mommy friends and every single parent has gone out and purchased more on their own.
Please note like you Maureen and Annie, I have a friend in Louisiana who had a leaky cup. But they immediately contacted the company who freely admitted, wholeheartedly apologized, and proceeded to tell them that there were a few cups in their first run that weren't perfect (it's a New Company!).
Unfortunately, this was discovered after they shipped. They went on to explain that because the # of leaky cups were so few the retailers they contacted about this determined a recall wouldn't benefit anyone. So instead they sent a mass email to all their retailers with an apology and told them if they discovered that a customer purchased a leaky cup they would be happy to replace it immediately no questions asked.
As promised, my friends cup was replaced with an apology and a smile. When she called the other day she thanked me again for the Heads Up-her little girl loves it and she was so happy with the product she bought 6 more for her Mommy and Me group-(BTW-not a leaky one in the batch).
I have no issues being a Safe Sippy advocate but, I'm more pleased knowing that and MY NEPHEW AND ALL HIS FRIENDS AND THEIR FAMILIES WILL NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ALL OF THE HORRIBLE REPERCUSSIONS THEY COULD HAVE GOTTEN FROM DRINKING OUT OF A TOXIC CUP!!!!!!!

I own 5 Safe Sippys and I've never had one of them leak. I got one as a gift and my son refused to drink out of anything else within one day. I love this cup!
