Maher Dry Goods Toy Robot

robotA280.jpg

Why are toy robots so interesting? Probably because they don't come with any specific stories attached to them. Army figurines are going to war, for example, but what does a robot do? Space? Dangerous missions? It can be anything! Robots are great that way, the child gets to put his or her own stamp on their blank faces.

The Maher Toy Robot is a great looking example of a wooden toy robot. Magnetic hands so he can hold metal objects, rollers that actually work, and a hidden compartment under a flip-top head add up to one ultra-fun toy. What does a robot want to do? Anything it wants.

I think the link to the product page is a little messed up (looks like it got pasted in thew middle of an existing http://). Looks wonderful...but for $40 I'm be tempted to make it myself instead.
