The Great Big Veg Challenge

veg-challenge.jpg

When London-based mom Charlotte Hume was faced with the daunting task of getting her son Freddie to eat his veggies (we have all been there, right?), she decided to challenge him. Together they worked their way through an entire alphabet of vegetable recipes! What a feat! My kids, like the pre-challenge Freddie, basically eat only potatoes and corn with the occasional chopped tomato, save for my eldest I have to say, who eats raw carrots, cucumbers, and the like. Yet their repertoire is definitely in need of expansion. Charlotte’s new book, The Great Big Vegetable Challenge, just might be what’s needed to finally motivate the kids - the promise of healthy, competitive adventures in the kitchen. This pair’s rules of engagement: to eat their way through as many vegetables as they can find in the A to Z, trying out at least two recipes per veggie, inspired by ideas from around the world. Cook, taste, and Freddie gives a thumbs up or down. I'm in!
