Meet the Flux. Available on a multitude of different European sites (just Google it), this simple yin/yang piece of rubber can be put to many uses around the house, and comes in a wide range of colours, too.

If you're baby-proofing the house, you might want to toss a couple of these into the mix - just the thing for doors you don't want to slam shut, or windows you want to open just a smidge. And they're cheap - around £4.00 apiece.
