Mix and match furniture from MuuKids

Great ideas are thin on the ground, and great ideas that are beautifully executed, even rarer, so I was very excited to find out about Muu Kids.

The concept is simple: you can customise a capsule collection of nursery pieces with decorated panels. This gives you the flexibility to change panels as the child gets older, allowing the piece to grow with them. After all, the toddler who loves diggers may well prefer something a little more sophisticated when they hit the teens. And there are indeed teen designs.

The reason this works so well, in my view, is that the panels themselves are beautifully-designed. The whole thing could have fallen apart were they the crass or brightly-coloured images that are so prevalent elsewhere in kids' design. But no, they are delightful, and desirable.

Depicted above is the cot - of course, the one piece you're unlikely to keep as your child grows. But Muu point out that you may wish to ring the changes for baby number two, and this is a way of doing so without the expense of a whole new piece of furniture.

Great idea. I presume that you can just as easily create your own design for the panels and customize at home?
