An Egg is Quiet

I have to admit, when I bought this book for my son, it was really more for me. There was something so serene about all those beautifully rendered watercolors by award-winning artist Sylvia Long. Page after page of gentle pastels later and this frazzled mom was won over. But I had my doubts as to whether it would appeal to my car-crazed, dino-obsessed son. Surprise, surprise, he loves it! It has just enough fun facts to engage a curious toddler's mind - (I overheard him remark to the babysitter the other day, "Do you know some eggs are gooey?!"), and he really seems to love the illustrations too. Turns out, after a day of revving engines and roaring dinos, a nice quiet book about eggs is just what the doctor ordered...for both of us.

Strangely enough, my wife had just sat down to read this book as I opened BG.
