Market Sling

1_23965_ZM_LS.jpg

Something about the combination of my damaged dancer back and my gianormous children means that, in my opinion, there really is no comfortable way to "wear" your child. But there are less uncomfortable ways, and the sling is one of them. But then design wise you often run into the problem of their being either too "crunchy" or too trendy (you know, like with big pink dots or turquoise paisleys). So what's a more classically contemporary Mom with a sturdy back to do? Get the Market Sling. It's lovely - interesting, yet understated - stylish, and it goes with everything! Plus the organic cotton interior makes it extra cozy for baby. (I guess their comfort is to be considered too...)

Unfortunately while this sling looks glamorous, it doesn't look like it's going to be a particularly comfortable one, particularly the way that it's being worn in the shot. The most comfortable sling will be one that distributes the baby's weight over both shoulders and hips. Mei tais, semi-structured carriers and wraps will do this. If you prefer to have the weight all on one shoulder, as with this carrier, one with a wide strap that you can spread out across the shoulder will be more comfortable. A narrow strap close to the neck like this is likely to cause pain for most people.
