Owly Shadow Puppets

il_430xN.14428911.jpg

Looking for a new, creative (and affordable) way to encourage imaginative play? How about shadow puppets? I'm partial to the toothsome dinos shown here, but the Owly Shadow Puppets collection includes a whole wondrous menagerie of fantastical beasts. Whether it's a mermaid, dragon, faerie, or even a yetti, each original design is laser cut from sturdy matboard by Andrea, the Chicago artist behind this clever shop. Handy sticks as well as many moving parts ensure a really lively show. On her site, Andrea even has a tutorial on how to make your own puppets. A great project for a rainy-or any-day.
