Pangaea Puzzles - learning on many levels

il_430xN.56975223.jpg

Yup. It's happened. My three-year-old has finally discovered what must be some innate boy love of lizards, snakes and, yes, sharks! But I have to say, even if you aren't completely obsessed with things that slither and skulk, this shark puzzle from Pangaea Puzzles is very cool. (For all you parents of non-or-as-yet-undiscovered dino/geophiles, Pangaea is the named of the onetime super continent that all of our current continents broke apart from eons ago. Clever name, huh? But I digress.) Hand cut from hardwood by science teacher and dad Mike Sherry, the shark puzzle features five different shark species. Me, I hate to tamper with the natural beauty of the wood, but if you really want your child to have an educational experience, he/she can also paint the pieces. (Well, I suppose if it's in the name of learning...) Mike makes other ingenious puzzles as well including: numbers, shapes, and even, heirloom maps, all of which have been vetted by his own three kids.
