Extra fine handmade boats for your bath

handmade-boat

You really can eschew the plastic monstrosities that threaten to overflow your bathroom when you realise there are bath toys of this fine quality out there. Could it really be that phenomena such as Etsy really are helping us defeat the big stores' determination that our homes be full of brash plasticky rubbish? One can only hope.

The seller is Friendly Fairies, and her profile tells a story of a corporate drone made redundant and relaunching herself as an independent seller. From big business to small-scale, from plastic trash to wooden boats made with care: it's all part of the same story, really.

Wow, was just googling myself and found your great blog. Thanks for recognizing my talented brother's excelent toys. He walked away from a bad job and never looked back. His first boats were our Mom's idea. She had found a really crude boat at a garage sale and asked him to make some to sell in the store she worked in. He took it down to the basement and came back with a detailed little boat like this one....that was a few hundred boats ago!
