Marimekko designs

marimekko-fabric

Design-heads that most of our readers are, I doubt you'll need an introduction to Marimekko, the Finnish textile and clothing design company. As parents, however, it's not always possible to keep up with every new release, so I make no apology for bringing your attention to their new Spring range.

A company whose design principles are so suffused with colour and vibrancy is always going to be particularly good for children (I know a mum who swears her daughter, as a baby, would sit happily mesmerised by a length of their fabric she'd bought off eBay) and this season's collection is no exception.

Most obviously suitable for kids' curtains, cushions, clothing, etc, are those designs featuring animals, as pictured, but there are some more subtle designs too that would also look quite excellent, and have the added advantage that they'd do service long into your child's teens and beyond.

They are also very nice for bedding : wich children don't want to sleep with the elephant ? In my shop, in the town of Angers (France), I sell a lot of this fabrics for children's room. There is also purpes, bags, bibs, children aprons, etc.
