The Tuffet stool - for your toddler's spontaneous social occasions

Do you ever think that your own child has a more impressive social life than your own? I certainly do. While I can't remember the last time my own friends just dropped by, my daughter regularly finds herself hosting a spontaneous playdate for two or three pals.

Which would make a nifty piece like the tuffet a very handy piece of furniture to have around. Not, it appears, that it was designed for youngsters, but it certainly fits the bill.

Day to day, it's an unassuming, if rather striking, stool. But when the kindergarten a-list come by for juice and biscuits, it's quickly transformed into three seats and a table. Ideal for the preschool sophisticate, especially those living in small urban spaces.

Oh, and when your kid starts to grow - as kids invariably do - the stacking system comes into its own once more: add a layer at a time to raise the height of the stool, which, because of its design, is always stable.
