The Moomins cookbook

Those who grew up with the Moomins, as I did, know that their rarefied and often melancholic world is created via a very Scandinavian appreciation for the simple things in life: the changes of the seasons, the joy of friendship and family, and, of course, good food. The feasts described in the Moomin books are sometimes quite extraordinary, and now they are celebrated in a family cookbook.
While you may not be called upon to prepare ears of corn and berries threaded on straws and clusters of nuts nestling in their own leaves, or indeed a bathtub full of fat to fry pancakes in, the ample 150 recipes included in this jolly book will introduce you and your child to the joys Finnish food. There are drinks, picnic dishes (for the Moomins know the importance of a good picnic) and even cough medicine - and even if you don't make any of it, you can enjoy the original illustrations that have been included throughout.
