A salute to your Scots heritage?

Tunnocks teacake t-shirt

Is there Scottish blood in your family? While you may know your tartan, can roll your 'r's to perfection, and have even learned to love the plaintive sounds of the bagpipes, you may be overlooking an altogether more modern part of your heritage.

And that is where the illustrations of Gillian Kyle can help - for she celebrates a different Scotland. One that any modern-day native of the country would recognise - a Scotland of Tunnock's teacakes, Irn Bru and Whams (respectively, in case you don't know, a marshmallow-y treat, a fizzy drink, and a sweet, and all familiar snacks to the people of Glasgow and beyond).

You can get them on tote bags, teatowels, and, if you want to start the kiddo off early with some nationalistic pride, kids' teeshirts too. Not just for Scots: admirers of illustration may also be smitten.
